You can buy almost any organic food online but there is absolutely nothing healthier for your body and mind than simply growing your own fresh organic produce. I know there are some people who hate playing in dirt, find it disgusting to touch an earthworm, or have backs that do not bend enough to touch the ground. Some simply find no time for gardening. I feel sorry for all of them, they are missing out on so much.
“When I go into the garden with a spade, and dig a bed, I feel such an exhilaration and health that I discover that I have been defrauding myself all this time in letting others do for me what I should have done with my own hands.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
For those of you who love sunshine, fresh air and exercise, along with the freshest and healthiest food possible, gardening can’t be beat. To top it all off, miracles to please all your senses will surround you and add new life to your everyday routine. Even a small container garden works. Raised beds are great for those with bad backs. To me there is nothing more amazing than to watch a tiny seed, dropped into fertile ground, sprinkled with raindrops and a touch of love, grow into a plant that offers incredible food and/or amazing beauty. In a flower garden, to experience the brown earth transform into a carpet of vibrant colors dancing with bright butterflies is more uplifting than morning coffee. It’s just life at it’s best!

“There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.” ~Mirabel Osler
Your garden is where you can experience the seasons of life first hand. From the spring birth of plants to winter’s rest and restoration, the full circle of life unfolds right before your eyes. Yes, the garden provides food for your body but even more than that, it provides powerful food for your soul.

Lets get growing
To start your successful garden you need high quality seed. Planting that seed into healthy compost-rich soil is the next step. I always found that adding organic fertilizers to the soil always helps to grow the strongest, most disease resistant and lushest plants possible.
Spraying the plants with kelp solutions throughout the growing season has always given me great results. Beware though, if you spray with kelp/fish emulsion combo, the smell may be a little offensive to a human passerby for a day or so but your plants will love it!
If you need to, using earth friendly garden pest and disease control methods can also ensure that you save plants that happen to get “attacked.” These products are much less likely to harm the environment or upset its delicate balance than their chemical relatives. I try to use as little as these as possible though.
